A step closer to home

Well the past few days have been anything but restful but we finally have some resolution on our offer. There was much stress and negotiation between all parties involved. Late Sunday evening after digging our heels in on our offer we were informed by the real estate agent that the vendor had accepted our terms. Guess we're going to be home owners.

Of course now we have to arrange finance, find a new tennant for our current apartment, organise inspections and move all our crap from Indooroopilly to Annerley. Looks like we're going to be pretty busy for the next couple of months.

Might be a little premature but here's a whirlwind tour of our abode to be.

That's the entry staircase up from the street.

Living room and balcony.

Kitchen with gas (YES GAS!!!) cook top.

Second bathroom.

Balcony from the street.

Not many pictures yet. More to come once we get our keys which will hopefully be in the next two months. So excited. :)

The first plunge

Alison and I have been looking around for town houses and units for a few months now but to date it's only been "window shopping". Sorta shook things up a little this weekend when we found a three bedroom unit in Annerley which we're quite attached to. It's a renovated block of units in a 30 year old building but it's been done up quite nicely. Moving quickly we notified John and Sheena who came down promptly to take a look at the place and this afternoon we submitted an offer to the real estate agent for the property.

The two of us are scared witless but I guess it's all out of our hands now. There's another contract that the vendor will be considering so there's a high chance that we won't get the place but we figure this has been good experience regardless of the outcome. Hopefully we'll know a little more tomorrow afternoon so for now we're trying not to think about it.

Nice day planned for tomorrow in the city before we spend the night at the Carlton Crest (cheap dealies on offer) as a bit of a treat. Probably the last chance for frivolous spending if we're looking at mortgage repayments in the near future. :P

Yet more wedding bells!

Cause for more celebration in the family. Alison's brother James has just asked Dora the question (about time) this weekend. Als is trying to extract details from the bride to be at the moment but doesn't seem to be doing a very good job. We'll just have get out the thumbscrews when we meet up next.

According to our limited sources James apparently made his move by taking Dora to the beach. We're just happy about all this and will ignore this little bit of plagiarism. Ah well, imitation is the greatest form of flattery (just kidding James) ;)

Looks like 2007 is going to be a pretty busy year for the family. Congratulations and big hugs to James and Dora.

Happy Birthday Half

Alison and I (sappy saps) had our 30th month 'anniversary' over the Easter weekend. It also marked Half's second birthday. I gave Alison Half (our resident hippo) after we'd been going out for six months, hence his name. :)

Run rabbit run rabbit run run run

Hurray Easter is almost here! The Easter hols this year fall quite nicely with ANZAC day (25th of April) so Alison and I have decided to use up some annual leave and have a mini holiday. Most of it no doubt will be wasted lounging around the house asking each other if there's anything to do/watch/eat but heck, a holiday is a holiday.

The bunny came to visit us at work today. Gotta love getting free stuff from your managers (Thanks Dan! Red Tulip too!). Sad thing is I've stuffed my face with so many minieaster eggs that I'm sick of chocolate already.

We'll be driving up to Toowoomba tomorrow to spend the weekend with John and Sheena. Just another excuse to stuff ourselves silly really. The only bad thing about driving back to Toowoomba with Alison around Easter time is that she'll be singing Peter Cottontail all the way. I won't be held responsible for any auditory damage caused by clicking that link.
"Here comes Peter Cottontail
Hoppin' down the bunny trail,
Hippity hoppity,
Easter's on its way"
Happy Easter everyone.

Alright already!

Three people have already jumped at the chance to flaunt this piece of news in front of me. I'd already heard that a third party hack for Windows was released to install the OS on Apple hardware but early adopters have found numerous driver issues. Now that the company will be officially supporting Windows I'm sure compatibility will quickly improve.

Guess it serves me right for being impatient. Still happy with with my lappie but I'll have to strongly consider a 20" dual core iMac to replace my ageing desktop next. :P
