Fifteen pieces of chicken

About a week back, Dan and the rest of us at work got onto the topic of fast food and it's consumption in gross quantity. During the course of this unhealthy discussion Dan challenged anyone to eat fifteen pieces of KFC chicken. I of course, confident in my ability to process inhuman volumes of grease and fat, raised an eyebrow at what I believed would be a trivial task. The result of this was a bet for $20 (w00p) if I could eat a 15 piece bucket of chicken on our next team outing.

Well... after a hard week at work I guess it was time for gorging.

Here are the two buckets of chicken we bought, one for me and another for the rest of the team. At this point I wasn't feeling quite as cocky I must admit.

The chicken pieces had to be redistributed to give me a nice mix of Original Recipe and Hot and Spicy. Before long I had what would become my nose bag for the next hour and a half.

I practically inhaled the first seven pieces of chicken. Dan and Matt were stuffed at four pieces each (wussies). Matt observed that my eyes were looking a little glazed by the time I started on my tenth piece however.

We actually had to bring the last two pieces in the bucket back to the office to avoid being late for a meeting (One can't sacrifice productivity even for a friendly wager after all). Dan was actually so confident that I'd give up that he didn't have enough cash on him to pay me so we made a brief stop at the ATM. Minutes after returning to the office I'd polished off the remaining cold lumps of what I'd hesitate to identify as chicken meat and collected my dues.

Not that full really after that, but I'd definitely like to take a break from chicken for a few weeks.

Portable Entertainment

I've been looking for a second hand PSP for quite a while now and finally found one over the weekend. Picked this lovely beast up for $250 at EB in the city which is a little easier to swallow than full retail (I still don't think it's worth $400 for what you get).

Also grabbed a copy of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories which was on special. Stealing cars and plowing through innocent pedestrians is all good fun but this comes with the added bonus of hacking the PSP.

The downside of getting this PSP was that it didn't come with a pre version 2.0 firmware like I'd hoped so I can't hack games onto it until this here modchip comes out in Australia. Can't come soon enough if you ask me. Thank frag that modchips are legal in this country... for backups and the like.

Isn't it grand when your kids play nice together. DS cuddling the PSP. Bad thing about having shiney gadgets is they get finger prints and dust all over them. Need some surgical gloves to handle the darn thing without defacing it.

Oh, and my new supercard came in the mail last week too. It's heaps better because it sits flush and it isn't PINK. I suppose purple wouldn't have exactly been my first choice but at least this time it's not quite as visible.

All the family together. If only there were a DS lite among the mix...

Red doors

Finally, we're no longer living out of two little plastic boxes. The cabinet maker came by yesterday to install our new pantry and both of us are more than happy with the results.

There were a few issues with the measurements so what started out as an hour long job actually spread into about five hours all up with trips back and forth from the workshop. Gotta feel sorry for the guy when he already gave us a good price for the work and ended up spending most of his Saturday fixing mistakes that probably weren't even his. What makes it worse is that he would have actually made more money an hour working at McDonalds. Sometimes life just isn't fair. :P

Ahhh glorious food, and so much more space to fill.

More snaps from home

Finally got a chance to take some pictures of the house in decent light on Monday. Still lots more to be done to the house before it's "perfect" but at least we're making progress.

The first thing I thought when I opened the cupboard door in the second bedroom was "This'll be great for my boardgames". Reckon I was right. Scary thing is I'm actually missing a few that are out on loan at the moment so I'll have to take another picture when the full collection is back.

How good is it to have stairs?! It actually feels like we have a house rather than a unit.

Lounge room is pretty much all set up though we are eagerly awaiting the delivery of our couch. Major downside at the moment is we don't have any space to play DDR. :(

Our skinny little balcony. Only room for two to sit on the table but it's better than nothing I suppose.

My dungeon (study) under the stairs. Going to have to get around to framing our degrees to put on the wall. Better than letting them crumble to dust in our document files.

More pictures to come this weekend when the cabinet is installed hopefully.

Connected!

Hurray! We have Internet again! Looks like settling into the new place didn't take as long as we envisioned. Pretty much got everything put aside and set up by mid last week. Telstra connected our phone line on Friday and iiNet have obviously already processed our ADSL application. So far so good.

Must admit there have been a few hiccups along the way though. Settlement didn't go nearly as smoothly as we would have liked thanks to the vendor's retarded solicitor. Bugger failed to fax through confirmation of settlement so the real estate agent couldn't give us our keys. They actually had to call the vendor who was in Spain at the time to get verbal approval. Common sense prevailed in the end thankfully.

Moving all our stuff across in three days was pretty challenging too. Lots of driving to and fro, dumping heaps of junk on the floor to be sorted later.

Fish made it safely even though I almost killed my back carrying the tank over with the fish inside. That's the price we pay for being too lazy to transport them individually. Thankfully there were no casualties

And then there's our problem with lack of cupboard space...

Thankfully most of the mess has been tidied up and we've made arrangements for blinds and a pantry to be installed in the coming weeks. I haven't had a chance to take some pictures of the place with our stuff in it but I will this long weekend. Both of us are very happy in our new home. :)
